IT services giant, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), in its research report, has
said that the energy, telecommunications and airline firms are taking the lead
in spending to engage consumers via their mobile devices. The New Digital Mobile
Consumer global trend report has showed that average expenditure with the
companies surveyed in these sectors during 2012 was between USD 27 million to
USD 31 million per company, said the company in a filing to the Bombay Stock
Exchange. During the year 2012, energy companies spent an average of USD 30.8
million per company in targeting mobile consumers. While telecom industry spent
USD 28.6 million, airline companies stood at the third position via an average
expenditure of USD 27.2 million per company. However, by the year 2015, airlines
are expected to become the highest spending sector with average spending of USD
37 million per company in 2015, followed by telecom industry, the filing added.
